Founded in 1994, Swing Shift was originally the amalgamation of refugees from several DC-area bands, including the Bob Louis Big Band, the Kingsmen, Bifocals, Central Heat, the Redskins Band, and the Post-Nuclear Jazz Society. Since its formation, this rag tag crew has been swinging the Washington, DC metro area and beyond offering up the gold standard of the American Songbook. From the classic Big Band repertoire, through the Swing Era, Vocals, jazz and even party-down rock numbers, Swing Shift make an event the talked about gathering of the year! Swing Shift performs at a wide range of venues including the Corcoran Art Gallery, the Kennedy Center, the Washington Hilton, the Fairfax Elks Lodge, the Loudoun Golf and Country Club, and the Sterling Golf and Swim Club. The band can be seen regularly at Blues Alley, Washington, DC’s premiere jazz club.
