We’re now just a few days out from our next May SCA Meeting (Thursday May 18th at 7:00PM at Stone Mansion).
At this meeting, we will discuss some upcoming events (Such as National Night Out in August) as well as the usual agenda items per Article VIII of our By-Laws).
Additionally, we’re excited to be hosting two guest speakers from the Fairfax County Community Emergency Response Team (CERT). David and Jonathan represent the 22306 area and will be discussing topics such as:
- Disasters Happen
- When big disasters happen, the FD gets overwhelmed and some communities may be on their own for one to three days (or more)
- People and communities need to be prepared
- Preparedness means: Make plan; Build a kit; stay informed; and get involved
- CERT Teaches all of this
- All about CERT training.
Thanks to several resident recommendations for the CERT presentation. We welcome any suggestions and assistance in coordinating future speakers who would be interested in meeting and engaging with our community. Please contact us if you have any ideas or recommendations.
